Introduction to the School of Nursing
He University began enrolling students in its four-year bachelor's program in Nursing from 2005 and officially established the School of Nursing since 2015. The School currently has over 4,500 full-time undergraduate students, including those admitted to undergraduate programs from junior colleges. The School has continuously strengthened and reformed its Nursing program, which was designated as a university-level distinctive program in 2017 and selected as one of the first batch of university-level First-Class Undergraduate Education Demonstration Programs in 2019. The School consists of the General Office, the Basic Nursing Teaching and Research Office, the Clinical Nursing Teaching and Research Office, and the Nursing Skills Center.
I. Overview of the School
The School of Nursing has established over 30 practical training bases, primarily in tertiary hospitals. It has formed long-term partnerships with several hospitals, including China Resources Liaojian Group Tie-Mei General Hospital, the Affiliated Central Hospital to Shenyang Medical College, Fushun Central Hospital, Shenyang Fifth People's Hospital, Tianjin First Central Hospital, and the Affiliated Hospital of North China University of Science and Technology.
The School employs numerous outstanding clinical nursing experts to participate in the teaching of Nursing program, building an comprehensive "theory-observation-training-internship" system that ensures seamless integration between students' clinical practical competencies and industry demands.
The Nursing Training Center under the School of Nursing is a Liaoning Provincial-level Experimental Demonstration Center, covering an area of over 12,000 square meters. It comprises 32 training laboratories, including a Basic Nursing Laboratory, Specialized Nursing Laboratories (Traditional Chinese Medicine, Geriatric, Community, Obstetric, and Pediatric Nursing),a Simulation Ward, an Emergency Nursing Laboratory and a Smart Nursing Laboratory.
Students complete courses such as Basic Nursing, Clinical Nursing, Community Nursing, Geriatric Nursing, and Nursing Etiquette in the training center, where they learn how to communicate effectively with patients, perform clinical nursing procedures and observe patients' conditions, thereby cultivating their clinical nursing competencies and sense of humanistic care.
After years of development, the School has built a dual-qualified faculty team who possess both rich teaching experience and excellent clinical expertise, and who are known for their academic rigor, strong professionalism, and vitality. This solid foundation supports the cultivation of high-quality nursing professionals who combine professional expertise and humanistic care.
The faculty members have achieved remarkable teaching outcomes, earning numerous awards such as the Third Prize in the 8th National Teaching Skills Competition for Young University Teachers, the First Prize in the Undergraduate Group of the 2nd Liaoning Province Teaching Competition for Young and Middle-aged Nursing Faculty, and both First and Second Prizes in the Micro-lecture Competition (Higher Education Group) of the Liaoning Provincial Educational Informationization Contest. They have also received multiple First, Second, and Third Prizes in the National Teaching Information Exchange Activities, the Second Prize in the 2022 Liaoning Province University Teaching Innovation Competition, the Third Place Team Award in the 2023 Chinese Nursing Association National Young Teachers' Skills Competition and several Liaoning Province Teaching Achievement Awards.

Strengthening Professional Skills and Focusing on the Development of Diverse Competencies
The Nursing program adopts an integrated curriculum model that combines basic medicine and nursing with a focus on organ systems. Through flexible teaching methods such as case discussion, Problem-Based Learning (PBL), virtual simulation, bedside teaching, simulation-based learning, and gamification, the program fosters a "patient-oriented" holistic view of nursing, as well as their clinical thinking, communication and interpersonal skills while developing their practical competencies.
In addition to technical training, the program places greater emphasis on nurturing students' humanistic care awareness and professionalism, enabling them to develop stronger job competency and lifelong learning capabilities.
During their studies, students can pursue various professional qualification and specialized skill certificates, including Health Manager, Infant Caregiver, Elderly Care Vocational Skill Level Certificate, Health Massage Therapist, Nutritionist, and Nurse Practitioner Qualification Certificate. Among them, the Nurse Practitioner Qualification Certificate is a mandatory licensing examination for nursing students, and those who pass it are eligible to apply for nurse practice registration.

While continuously strengthening and reforming its programs, the School of Nursing is committed to nurturing high-quality and applied nursing talents with a strong sense of responsibility and gratitude. In terms of fostering humanistic care and the spirit of dedication, the School adopts a comprehensive, all-round, and multi-dimensional approach.
Through professional competitions such as the "Angel Show" Nursing Etiquette Competition, "He·Nursing" Skills Competition, and the "Most Beautiful He Nurse – Three Meters of Sunshine" event, as well as artistic activities including the "Voice Over Challenge" Dubbing Competition and Human Anatomy Hand-drawing Competition, the School nurtures students' aesthetic appreciation and artistic sensibility while fostering the spirit of striving for excellence and perseverance.
The School places great importance to cultivating students' sense of social responsibility. Up to now, it has developed a distinctive service network centered in Shenyang and extending to surrounding areas, reaching various institutions such as Shenyang Elderly Care Service Center, Shenyang Social Welfare Institute, Fushun Central Hospital, Liaoning Cancer Hospital, and local primary schools. So far, students have conducted 1,067 volunteer activities across 187 communities, serving nearly 150,000 people and accumulating more than 140,000 volunteer service hours.
Establishing a Japanese Nursing Class to Foster Students' Global Vision
Since 2014, the School of Nursing has established Japanese Nursing Class, initiating a "Nursing + Japanese" interdisciplinary talent cultivation model. During their studies, students actively participate in various competitions, achieving outstanding results such as winning the third prize (2018) and the second prize (2023) in the Shenyang Japanese Speech Contest for university-level participants. As of 2025, the School has trained over 100 interdisciplinary professionals in "Nursing + Japanese", with nearly 20 graduates having gone to Japan to work in nursing, becoming competent international nursing professionals.
The Japanese Nursing Class adopts an elite small-class teaching model, utilizing teaching methods such as role-playing, situational teaching, group collaboration, and flipped classroom. With advanced educational concepts, innovative teaching models, and diverse learning activities, it has developed a comprehensive and systematic teaching system. In addition, Japanese nursing experts are invited as guest lectures, bring in high-quality international educational resources that further broaden students' international perspective.
Rooted in Liaoning province, serves the nation and grassroots communities, the School maintains a high employment rate for undergraduate graduates and are widely praised by employers. Upon graduation, students mainly enter the healthcare industry and engage in clinical nursing, preventive healthcare, community nursing, elderly care, and other related fields in various general hospitals, specialized hospitals, community health service centers, rehabilitation centers and elderly service institutions. Graduates may also pursue master's or doctoral studies domestically or internationally.
